‘This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.’
1 John 1:5-10
Therefore, all of you find the Lord in prayer, stay in His word and remove the cover from the lamp on the lampstand. He dwells within us, inside our hearts. As humans we are flawed and will always fall short of His Holy expectation. A fellow chrome polisher myself, I find myself clinging to the rag that keeps my exterior shiny and mirror like, but the reflection isn’t always that of Jesus. As I polish my mirror like exterior, I must also wash out my interior with His blood or the rust will eat away at me from the inside out. There will come a point in time where I will no longer be able to polish away the blemishes of my soul. Much like weathered chrome has its time to shine and it’s time to show spots if extra care isn’t taken to protect the chrome from the elements. Walking in the light is to freely give away what has been freely given (Matthew 10:8). Live like Jesus did to become His reflection, clean out the inside of the cup and fully submerge it in Him, His word, just as He fully submerged the cups of the people at the wedding party.
Confess your sins to Him and to others, become vulnerable and full of humility. Show your weakness as the Apostles did so that like them you can become strong in Him (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). Scrub earthly desires of rightness and replace them with the heavenly desires of righteousness. Fulfill His destiny for us by not only walking on the Narrow Path, but by guiding others to the same path. Use His Light in you to show His faithfulness and love to others, so they can also experience His nature and character. If any of you have allowed darkness into your home, or His home, extinguish it now, confess it, shine His light on it and destroy the darkness. I am a sinner wrought with anger, my tongue struggles to match my heart. I pray for His Holy chisel to soften the edges of my heart so those I love most can experience His joy, peace, grace, mercy and love. Free me from the bondage of self-righteousness so I can be Your beacon for everyone to see. Use me as your vessel Lord, in your most Holy name, Jesus. Amen.
